Vedanta Mehra is born and brought up in Bangalore. After completing his BBA from Christ University in Bangalore, he got into event management. And for three years, he worked as a Wedding Planner. He never intended to be a bartender but one incident changed his life completely.

During a wedding in Udaipur, the bartenders he hired arrived late. It was that time where he went behind the bar for the first time. And there was no turning back!

In June 2016, he came back to Bangalore and started looking for courses to pursue bartending. He came across European Bartending School Las Vegas and went to pursue International Bartending Course ( 4 weeks ) , Mixology (2days ) and the Working Flair (2days). And in November 2016, he graduated with the Top score and Grade ” A”. Post the course, he interned & soon permanently joined Bootlegger Pub Bangalore in Feb 2017 and started participating in cocktail competitions. His passion got him the fourth position in the Diageo World Class Cocktail Competition 2017. He was a National Finalist Bacardi Legacy 2018.

He competed at the Monkey Shoulder Ultimate Bartending Championship in 2018 and won the title of India’s ultimate Bartender. And also bagged a customised royal enfield thunderbird 500x and an all expenses paid trip to the Athens Bar show courtesy of Monkey Shoulder India. In 2018, he was crowned as Bangalore City Champion in the Belvedere Re-learn Natural Challenge.

Doing wonders in such a short span is unbelievable but the journey is not as easy it seems. For Vedant, being a newbie in the industry especially with no HM background, it was difficult to showcase his potential as people often compared him to others & due to his age rarely took him seriously. He credits Mr Shreyas Patel, a cocktail enthusiast and the MD at Bootlegger as his mentor & biggest source of inspiration.

Vedant won Bacardi Legacy 2019 and represented India in the global finals in Amsterdam for his cocktail, Limitless that spread the message of sustainability.

Currently, you can find Vedant Mehra setting new cocktail trends at Olive, Mumbai as the Bar Manager.

He aims to be “the Gordon Ramsay of the Bartending Industry”
