Rahul’s father wanted him to pursue engineering but he wasn’t interested in the profession, instead he wanted to opt for Hotel Management. Despite a serious resentment from his family, he went against everyone and dropped out of engineering college to pursue Hotel Management.

Post Hotel Management, he got his first job at The Oberoi Grand and that is where he got inclined towards bartending.

He credits Ian Sedwill from London to be his source of inspiration. Due to his mentoring and Rahul’s zeal towards bartending, he was posted as a Bar Supervisor at ThreeSixtyThree, The Grand Oberoi, Kolkata.

Rahul Sandilya was also the National Finalist of Diageo World Class 2018 East India and a Bacardi Legacy National Finalist 2019.

He is currently working at at ThreeSixtyThree, The Grand Oberoi, Kolkata.
