Mizpah is a National Finalist Bacardi Legacy Cocktail 2019 by Vineeth Krishnan.
TheCocktailStory of Mizpah
The cocktail, Mizpah is inspired from the school memory of Vineeth Krishnan. In 11th grade, he participated in theatre for the first time and did a play – Julius Caesar by William Shakespaere. He still cherishes the memory and has been quite influenced by the play, especially, the speech by Mark Antony.
Mark Antony’s speech speaks of a true bond with Julius Caesar. A bond between them separated by death, which literally means as MIZPAH. Thus, the name of the cocktail is Mizpah.
The speech starts with the line “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears” and is known to be one of the most celebrated rhetorical act in dramatic literature, making Mark Antony a great orator in the history.
Mark Antony’s funeral oration for Caesar, is a finest example of rhetorical irony at work. The speech serves as a thematic synopsis to Julius Caesar. In the speech, Mark Antony talks about the nobility of Brutus even though he has no respect for the man. Shakespear through this speech makes his lines unforgettable and succeeded to make it as his legacy, Worlds best speech known to mankind.
Vineeth still counts the speech by Mark Antony as a piece of wisdom, something from which he has taken great inspiration all his life. ‘A great speech, strong words can change people’s mind’, dedicated to this particular belief, Vineeth created MIZPAH, a Bacardi Legacy Cocktail.
The interesting addition to the cocktail of story of Mizpah is that all the ingredients are in sync with the whole story. Vineeth used ‘bitter gourd’ which is dedicated to bitter Brutus who killed Caesar; Kiwi Shrub which consists of vinegar is used to replicate the sarcasm in Mark Antony’s speech, Angostura bitters which gives colour to Mizpah is dedicated to Julius Caesar as he refused the crown thrice and his true colours are known to all despite Brutus claiming him to be an ambitious man, Lime juice is used to highlight the friendship of Julius Caesar & Mark Antony.
The last and most important ingredient is Bacardi Carta Blanca which is again dedicated to Julius as he was a family man same as Don Facundo Bacardi.
