Brown Forman is a brand noted for building and encouraging passion. Their whiskey has been one of the most loved drinks and hearts of people harbour a special place for it. Initiated in 2017, Brown Forman organises an annual championship which affords a wonderful platform to trigger and test the creativity of the best mixologists and stir innovations by welcoming bartenders into a new arena.

So, if American Whiskey legacy Cocktail Challenge is round the corner, consumers should expect something out of the box. The 2018 competition gave quirky ingredients like matcha tea, almonds, moong dal or homemade beetroot and garlic syrup to be used into making a classic cocktail drink.

As the Championship was launched in the wake of surging popularity of cocktails, consumers also have an amazing chance to taste and relish the drinks. Consumers who enjoy such events and distinctive cocktails are a big impetus for such competitions. The perceptions of people have also changed and the cult now recognises the imperative of a rich beverage culture. Rising awareness among the masses due to cultural exchanges and overseas traveling, people have experienced and developed a palate for good cocktails.

The cocktail championship enables the bartenders to showcase their talent and enhance their learning experience. It brings them to an entirely new and challenging international platform. The way each cocktail is made by them shows how their minds are functioning and what are they trying to bring on the table.

The passion for beating and displaying the craft by the competing bartenders is a big stimulant for conducting such events more often. The championship of 2018 saw a seven member panel adjudging 300 recipes prepared by 100 participants. The fervour with which they kick off their tryst with the ingredients shows their flair and ability to produce one-of-a-kind drink. A platform like the American Legacy sees everyone having a whale’s time; be it bartenders, consumers, or the brand.

Each participant is given 12 minutes to concoct an unforgettable drink using Woodford Reserve, Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack and Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel. For the final round, each participant is supposed to make two cocktails, a Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned and their signature recipe.

The winner is given a guided tour to the famous Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky as his prize. The idea of awarding a trip to the distillery is to introduce the bartenders to the knowledge of making Whiskey. It helps them understand the nature and character of Whiskey and what it will taste like when blended with different innovations.

His cocktail was inspired from the inherent flavors of Woodford Reserve complemented by local Indian spices, creating an exceptionally smooth stirred cocktail.
