Bollywood can make a movie on the life story of Devi Singh. Oh yes! It’s dramatic, emotional, there are both good & bad people and at the end, he is a winner or atleast on the path of being one.

Devi Singh is a Rajput from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Right after he completed his 10th, he ran away from his home due to the involvement in a wrong peer group. He went to the other parts of Rajasthan to find odd jobs for his survival.

Right from being a security guard to delivery boy to a waiter in outdoor cateringto even as a labor in a construction site.

He left Rajasthan in 2012 and went to Goa in search of something better. He got his first job as waiter at a shack. It was not easy for him as his English was weak but he had the aspiration to learn. And he tried learning English and mastered Russian.

The whole thing that gave him the strength to move forward in life was talking to random people and sharing stories. He mentions that the shack he worked at had a lazy bartender and that’s how he got to experiment and discover his real talent. He was always good at cooking and experimenting. He spent hours and hours trying his luck behind the bar.

And soon, he got a job as an Assistant Trainee bartender in Mambos, Goa. After which he joined Swing and worked as a freelancer too. Post that he joined Peep Kitchen and he is working as a Bar Manager at LPK.

He recalls his journey to be challenging especially that of a bartender. “It is not easy to get a job as a bartender when you don’t have any experience.”

He went back to his home to reconcile but in vain. His father is still against his decisions and choice of career.

With his cocktail being one of the 13  National Finalist in Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition 2019, he is quite sure that he can finally make his father proud.

Cheers to Devi Singh, an inspiration for other bartenders!
